Mirka Hokkanen was born in Finland 1979 but decided to try something new and moved to the US after high school. She received a BFA (2002) from Rockford College, IL, and an MA (2004) and MFA (2006) from University of Dallas, TX, all in printmaking and drawing. Mirka is currently creating in Hinesville, GA. Her work in prints, drawings and mixed media have been widely exhibited around the US and Europe. In addition to drawing she has been creating little critters for as long as she can recall, using scraps from her grandmothers craft closet. Since the begninning Mirka was drawn to nature and animals and retro and vintage things, which she still uses as inspiration for her creations.
